Waterstones Jermyn Street Cafe is a calm spot tucked inside the expansive Waterstones bookstore on one of London’s classic shopping streets. It functions as a quietly comfortable pause for those browsing the shelves or locals looking for a low-key place to meet over coffee. The seating here leans toward soft armchairs and simple tables, offering a relaxed setup that encourages lingering, whether you’re catching up with a friend or settling in with a book.

The cafe’s drink offerings put a spotlight on coffee staples like cappuccinos alongside more seasonal touches such as an orange hot chocolate, which pairs well with their selection of pastries — think chocolate orange cake, classic scones, and carrot cake slices. These choices reflect the typical Waterstones cafe approach: straightforward baked goods and drinks designed to satisfy without fuss, though the food options lean towards the sweeter side rather than lighter, more health-conscious fare.

This place works best as a casual stop rather than a workspace, especially since the WiFi can be slow and inconsistent, a common snag if you’re hoping to get much digital work done. Mornings and early afternoons, particularly weekdays, tend to be quieter times when you can find a comfortable spot away from the main flow of shoppers and enjoy the book-lined surroundings.

The atmosphere is friendly with attentive staff and a subtle hum of book lovers and city wanderers. Tea drinkers, coffee aficionados, and those craving a simple cafe pause in a central London setting will appreciate the unhurried pace here. While the menu isn’t groundbreaking, the setting offers a grounded city experience combining London's literary culture with everyday cafe life.

Location and atmosphere is nice, comfortable chairs, view, staff. Internet is slow (I came to do some work and did not progress much , as my pages loaded forever). Selection of food is not my favourite(sweet bakery and packed sandwiches), but is standard for the Waterstones. I would go for a bit healthier options. In general, if you want to have chat with a friend or read a book drinking coffee/having a snack, it is a good place.

Warm ambience the book store itself is huge and I like the fact that I can drink my coffee around so many books. Wi-Fi is also ok.

Friendly ladies were on duty. There were 3 of them. I enjoyed my tuna sandwich and decaf mocha very much! Thank you
